Business cards are still a great way to market your business and advertise it in a professional way.

We will be sharing our 6 tips for making an amazing Business Card.

You can read them all or jump to a tip here:

- Have a theme

- Text & logo size

- Quality

- Bleeds

- Margins

- Hierarchy

Have a theme

Having a running theme throughout your business card design on the back and the front is very important.

The theme would mostly come from your branding style or your logo but you need to take into account the color, typeface, and layout.

B. Card theme on both sides

It should all tie in together to resemble the theme of your brand.

For Example, a business card for a fashion company will utilize typical colors and typefaces for that specific industry, and if you look at both sides of your business card, they should complement each other well and use the same theme.

A good way to do that is to use contrasty colors. So, if your theme mostly includes the colors blue and white, then one side of your card should have 1 color more dominant, and the other side would be the same in reverse.

Text and Logo size

Size is really important when designing a business card because you want others to be able to read the information from your business card.

So, make sure to test out your business card by moving away from the card and trying to read all of it.

That way you can make sure it is easy to read and that your customers can understand what you're about.

That same principle goes for the Logo. Your logo also needs to be visible and recognizable, so make sure you test that out as well before sending it out for printing.

Quality

Make sure your business card is 300ppi and set to CMYK color mode for printing.

This step is pretty obvious for most designers but some do forget this small detail, and because of its importance, we had to include it.

Bleeds

Typically, using a 5mm bleed around your design is ideal, and you need to set that in illustrator, or some other software that you are using.

The purpose of the bleed is that the printer can cut out your business card efficiently and cleanly on multiple different printouts.

So, make sure your designs are properly placed and aligned with the bleed before printing.

Margins

Make sure you do have margins so you can keep all of your important content within the edge of your design.

That would mean adding a few extra millimeters from your bleed to insure your Business card looks good and tidy. Using a minimalistic and simple design for your card can usually attract more people and look a lot more professional.

Hierarchy

Using hierarchy is crucial when designing a Business card so you can have important titles standing out.

For example, your name and profession should be at the top of the hierarchy as opposed to your website or phone number. That way, it can look a lot more professional and easy to understand.
